The Virginia legislature passes a law restricting acceptable voter ID (don't worry, you can still use a gun permit).
How does your state score on the Elections Performance Index?
Fox News is finished with Dick Morris.
Bill Nye and Neil DeGrasse Tyson schooled the House Science Committee yesterday. Let's hope somebody was paying attention in class.

While Rachel makes a great point in the cognitive lapses of some Republicans, she herself shows an amazing failure to comprehend some fairly basic science as she stands in front of Hoover Dam, touting the really big things that we can do. That big thing would be wreck many important habitats and make it so that the once mighty Colorado river never makes it to the Sea of Cortez, thus fouling both land and sea. All so that people can live in Phoenix and Las Vegas. I'm sorry but MSNBC needs to get out of the beltway and look at what is happening to our environment. Rachel please do some research on the terrible water management that you are touting as something great and change your commercial and increase environmental coverage.
Is the Hoover Dam your particular fetish? Or are you against all things that have destroyed the environment on the earth? How many habitats were destroyed by building the Interstate Highway System? Better yet, what habitats were destroyed building your home? What habitats were destroyed for the farming of the food you eat?
We can't change the past - we can only try and do something to protect the earth in the future - so where are you on global warming? Do you drive a gas guzzler? Do you like to have your house warm in the winter and cool in the summer?
There are just too many people on this little planet and until we find a way to move some of the people to other places in space, we are going to have to make hard decisions about the environment, but one thing is for sure - we can't "remake" the past to make a better present.
Rachel's point is that in the past we have done great things, and yes, the Hoover Dam is an example of that, even though it probably wasn't the best "environmental" decision that could have been made at the time, but at the time who knew? It certainly was a great engineering feat and it allowed people to have good jobs when they were few and far between, and it allowed us to increase food production in areas that couldn't be successfully farmed before. And it taught us a great deal about what we can do when we as a nation set our minds to it.
The question is: Will we do great things in the future to protect our planet or will we kill ourselves off?
Just for your information the majority of the water in Lake Mead behind the Hoover Dam goes to California. Nevada only gets about 20% of the water. That is why the water company pays to have the grass removed from yards to lower the water usage. We even have water police to look for water running down the street in the gutters and track it back to the leaks.
Fox originally billed Dick Morris as a "Democratic Party Consultant", but even when he was in the Clinton White House he was never more than a TROLL! Maybe he was trolling FOX!!! He was ALWAYS wrong!
Fox had a Dick, but they cut him off. Now CNN has a Dick that can't shoot straight. Only the Wolf man is left as the sane one on the station. Poor Ted Turner's legacy is ruined......
In order to give the appearance they are "fair and balanced" FOX always has so called progressives on that the we, in the liberal camp, wouldn't consider progressive at all.
How many of these bases to do we have?
So is the next thing that Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia tell us to get out because the bases as their citizens and neighbors get more agitated about assassinations from their soil on Muslims?
Is the next budget going to have the Navy asking for a few light carriers capable of inexpensive drone operations off Yemen and Somalia?
More treasure. Outing such diplomatically embarrassing details of the CIA and air force is very much in the interests of the Navy defense suppliers.
The Carrier drone discussed in the Nova show was an X-47B (story on carrier testing), which are not for the missions of loiter craft like the Predator. the x-47B has an enormous radius, jet powered and is stealthy. What a shock that it is wildly, wildly expensive compared to the Predator, and requires a big carrier to operate off of.
Eric Cantor shakes party Etch-a-Sketch. Let us know how that works for you.
Sister Sarah says 'you can't put lipstick on a pig; it's still a pig.' Eric wants to kiss the pig......
D.O.J.'s civil action against S&P is a better idea than criminal prosecutions, because the standard of proof incivil actions is less demanding, and civil defendants don't have as much legal protection as criminal defendants.
The First Amendment defense is viable if S&P can show that it was merely wrong, that it expressed sincere opinions that turned out to be incorrect. However, if DOJ can prove (by a preponderance of evidence, rather than beyond a reasonble doubt) that S&P knew it was overrating the saftey of securities, then it will win big, and so will us 99%ers.
Can McGraw Hill sue the ceos of S&P to recoup bonuses and salaries of the fraud perps.? That would at least be a consequence for the baddies who skate in a civil suit.
Wonderful to hear that The Science Guy & Dr. Neil were invited to the House Science Committee's retreat, where it hopes to become bipartisan and (dare I say it?) useful.
The real question is: Can the Representatives of the Inquisition block the rest of the committee from stepping, even cautiously, into the post-Darwin world? If not, Chairman LaMar Smith's rebranding (he's a Republican from Texas) smells an awful lot like Eric Cantor's Trojan Horse gambit.
Pat Robertson is at it again, accusing all of gaydom that the Boy Scout leaders will become 'pedophiles.' Pat has been talking on LSD to Oral Robert's 900 foot Jesus again! How long will this man have a forum for the people that Billy Graham couldn't handle. P.S. Billy had a bad history of hate in the 50's, look it up.............
Now, now, we all know that science is not really real and is the work of the devil and Jesus rode a dinosaur into Jerusalem on palm sunday.
Re. Virginia's new voter ID legislation. WOW so much for a new introspective GOP Instead of any thought it may have been wrong to try to prevent people from voting the thinking is more like: we didn't' do a good enough job of screwing people. This will probably get struck down in court. There is essentially no voter fraud. These fools need to stop with the desperate attempts to keep the republican party alive. The main order of business of today's republican party seems to be to come up with ways to make life harder on people . Attacks on women's rights , minorities, unions, reducing unemployment benefits. Maybe if they tried to help people instead of hurting them they would be more popular.
Bill Nye rocks!
