Just a note. The DEMS cast a ton of blame on REPS,but have controlled 2 of the 3 legislative and executive branches for the past 2 years (and continue to do so for the next 2 years), yet their accomplishments are absolutely NIL. The country is mired in recession.
Who could possibly endorse these no'erdowells?
Have you been paying attention to the Jobs bills in the House and Senate? The GOP even blocked a Jobs bill for vets. Nothing can pass the Senate because the GOP fillibusters everything.
If you don't believe me- look up any jobs bill for the past 2 years. Every one killed by the GOP. If you want jobs legislation, maybe you should stop voting for those obstructing it.
Really. Don't believe me.
Look it up for yourself.
Jobs bills are a bandaid for anti-business attitude. Money for make-work jobs is no substitute for real job creation by business.
One, on the heat of all of the wonderful "shovel ready" jobs produced by the stimulus, I was pleased that we didn't so quickly continue the spending spree.
Two, perhaps you should look a little closer at how much support there was on the democratic side for various bills... nothing like using the republicans for cover.
RE: #1.2
Increased demand is the only reason businesses add jobs.
Government jobs are still jobs - right?
Nobody is saying jobs should be created that are "make-work" jobs.
Remember the WPA? That was a jobs program. Anyone who goes to a National Park today still makes use of stuff that was built by that program.
You keep claiming that there is an anti-business attitude, but have failed to explain and provide references to back this up.
Shooter, Usually your posts make some sort of sense even though I disagree most of the time, but this post makes no sense. What anti-business is going on? The stock market is near record high levels.
There is a difference in what businesses will do and what the government can do in regards to job creation. Comparing the two shows shows ignorance. Re-post your comment on Yahoo. I'm sure you'll find agreement there.
Anti business. Tax hikes, Obamacare, EPA energy policy, nationalizing business, taking away bond holder rights, and of course his declaration... "If you've got a business -- you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen."
Worse is the tsunami of regulations, any one of which can cripple or kill a business. For example....
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/02/06/jail-time-for-food-labels/
Anybody risking new money in this environment is guilty of negligence.
Maphi, I'm curious. Generically speaking what do you do for a living? Do you work for a large or small firm? Have you ever run a business yourself?
Shooter,
Can you tell by looking at a coal fired power plant's smoke stack how many parts per million of mercury and arsenic are coming out? Of course you can't and neither can I.
It takes a lot of people to design, manufacture, install, operate and maintain the equipment that makes that clean coal clean for the environment. If you want less regulations then you will have less jobs and a less healthy environment.
As long as the regulations apply to every one, then that is what I consider a level playing field. If you can get your lobbyist to get congress people to put in a special loophole just for you, then that is not a level playing field.
"If you've got a business -- you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen."
Shooter,
I thought you were smarter than this. You're just trolling on this one. You've had plenty of time to figure this out. How many companies do you know are out building or repairing roads and bridges that we all can use on a daily basis for free?
Shooter,
You got a problem with taxes going up on the wealthiest of us. These people will always be rich. Why don't you recommend we cut all government spending by 40%. That is the amount of the deficit. See what happens when people on Medicare and Medicaid have to get by with 40% less. No doctors will have them.
Shooter,
your statements are WEAK.
Obamacare-REPUB IDEA. they LOVED this idea (repub idea) before President Obama put it on the table to try to get them to vote for it.
i realize it will be difficult for you to listen to the whole speech made by President Obama, but he was not referring to people not building their business. as YOU SHOULD BY NOW KNOW, he was referring to the INFRASTRUCTURE that helped them build their business.
Mike in Georgia,
in order to have full control, the dems would have to have been FILIBUSTER-PROOF, which they have not been. repubs have said NO to everything, even ideas they supported in the past, things that they know will help the economy, PER THEIR PROMISE TO EACH OTHER, on President Obama's inauguration, TO DO JUST THAT, to TRY to make him a one term President (mitch mcconnell). also, dems do not vote in lockstep like repubs do, AS A GENERAL RULE.
Pushing the envelopes
OK, since your such a "spoiler" you go on ignore!
C'mon Chris... The Terminator was played by a Republican actor...
Wonder Woman definitely...
Sheesh....
The Force is strong with MHP.
My knees buckled and my heart went all a flutter as she deftly flowed from one complex issue to the next laying down one devastating observation after the other, like one of the Dasha-Mahavidyas, annihilating misconception and perfidy everywhere she turned her gaze. She marched through an aggressive amount of spoken content, dispatching each segment with dash and aplomb. The Terminator image doesn't do the scope of this blitz justice. Her swift sword of carnage was like that of Sherman laying waste to the evil of the old South.
Well done, Dr. MHP. Well done.
Did you guys all get downed on your heads ? She is just a girl. Cute smart girl. Well, professional woman, mother and wife. But she is just a cute, smart girl really. Sherman ?? really ? Sherman? Oh yes I see the parallel. She is to Sherman as Hitler was to Mother Teresa. I can see that….not…..
Oh crap, that did not come out right.
Correction: Melissa is to Sherman as Mother Teresa IS to Hitler. This is how wars start isn’t it ? The best of intentions and What did you say ?????? Rachel help out me out here. I have fallen down and can not get up. What do you mean, I dug this hole and now I must stand in it ?….friends ??? What do you mean by, “ Well yes , technically. “ ??? Maybe I should have stopped while I was ahead. You know, like our Wall Street folk who screwed a bunch of people out of money and now you must save me. Oh yah and I am now suing you for not helping me make maximum profits. Only in America.
Pondering-2,
How wars start, "self-defense".
