For those of us who do not have access to television, please post where we can watch it online (streaming). Or, if streaming is not available, where it can be down loaded...Thank you. I watch Rachel 's previous evening's shows the next day on the MSNBC streaming website...but this is a documentary. Will it be shown there as well? Thank you.
I hope so. I also don't get MSNBC or much of anything else on my basic cable so I rely on my Roku box.
If you guys have smartphones, there's an App called 'Stitcher' that contains many pod casts. One of the pod casts you can access through it is the audio version, in full, of Rachel's show.
If I miss a show then I'll listen to it the next day through this service. No visuals, but it's commercial free so that's nice.
Good luck.

Here in Missouri we are reading about the high price of gas compared to the minimum wage. 1 gallon used to cost 1/4 of an hour's wage (1996), now a gallon costs 60% of an hour's wage (at minimum). Nothing is fair for the poor. If the minimum wage were indexed to the price of gas, today it would be over $16.00 per hour. How about that? Give that one to Obama. $9.00 isn't enough when gas is at $4.00 a gallon. Driving to work is a bank breaker. Oh & the 1$ Menu at McDonald's would have to become a 2$ Menu to cover the doubling of minimum wage. That'd be a bank breaker. *sarcasm*
I am one of those uninsurables. I hate to read this about the PCIP program. Without it I would not be alive today. If it goes away I suppose I will go back to no insurance.
If you already are enrolled and paying premiums, the change won't affect you. From the article: "People already in the plan will not lose coverage."
I love the idea of the brain mapping project! What do Conservatives/TEA Partyers think is the bigger problem, more stimulus or soldiers with Traumatic Brain Injuries? Deficits or Alzheimer's Disease?
It's ending only when insurance companies will not be allowed not to insure based on pre-existing conditions. And when the vastly expanded Medicaid program comes into effect. If your state government isn't cooperating, and is therefore leaving a large percent uninsured, elect another state government.
The problem with pre-existing conditions is that people are thinking of a major disease like cancer or diabetes when actually, insurance companies are refusing to insure people that had an infection and took antibiotics for it ten years ago.
The stars are not moving closer to us we are moving closer to the stars, who is going to catch us when our starship begins to float upwards, my guess is as good as yours. Whose pocket will we be in? Let's ask the men who sold the world.

I couldn't believe it when I read this post.
If there's no deal in Congress, and the "Sequestration" is implemented, poor people will be hit the hardest: home heating assistance, low income housing, food stamps, WIC, and Headstart, and Social Security income for the blind, disabled and elderly, are the targets of one third of the cuts.
My family lives on disability income, and low income housing. I have a chronic disease (Lupus, and, along with it, a seizure disorder; my husband worked as hotel maintenance for more than 30 years before he became disabled with injuries). We "make too much money" for any other type of assistance.
At the mid-point in the month, typically, we run out of money; in part, because we have to help support our grown, working children (my son and his wife both have Bipolar disorder, and 2 toddlers), to a degree, because of the low salaries that even full-time entry level jobs provide. Until my daughter in law took on a part time job, recently, they got food stamps, fuel assistance, and WIC, but now are inelegible for all but WIC. None of us get "Welfare," now known as AFDC.
We utilize the local food pantry monthly; this means getting canned food, expired boxed foods, and produce, dairy, and bread that stores can't sell anymore, because they are on the verge of spoilage; recently, also 4 choices of frozen meat, pasta, hummus, and vegetarian goods per month.
How many people do you think you know, who are dealing with living in this way, without your knowing about it? And what do you think this will do to young families with children, like my grandchildren, that already can't support themselves?
I follow MSNBC every night; I watch Chris and Ed and Rachel and Lawrence. During the day, I have this channel on in the background. On the weekend, I watch Chris and Melissa. I can't believe that I didn't know how much we may be impacted by this legislation--or lack thereof.
I embarrassed my children writing the bulk of this commentary on Facebook; my 16 year old daughter has friends in this town who are very wealthy; my son was, as well, though I didn't include the piece about his family illnesses. I wrote about it because I was astounded that I didn't know about it; and because I'm tired of feeling invisible, and wanted to impact even a few people that I know, and perhaps give voice to other people who struggle in the same way.
There isn't much talk about the poor: Republicans virtually get paid in campaign contributions to ignore us; Democrats know we will vote for them anyway. But there is no focus on the poor; we have no lobby.Do people [Republicans] really think that we "deserve" to be homeless, and hopeless, while the wealthy [not "job creators"] get away with whatever they can??
ahh yes its all the republicans fault again..... so many times we have to hear it. we just gave into a huge tax hike just a couple months ago and now he wants to raise more taxes for everyone again and again and again. but for all those obaminites (as I call them),,, you go ahead and follow your president like you are zombies. mindless and blind just believing everything the king zombie says and believes.... ohh and hey love his family values.... maybe him and tiger woods will go to a local brothel....
I'll give you a quarter if you buy yourself a clue by four.
can't wait to see the brian map!
The Brain map is gravy. If Obama gets seriously behind it, this could be equivalent to Kennedy's challenge to land a man on the moon because such a project would spur significant US investments in applied technology. It would represent a significant shift in the politics of Science research to fund not just basic research, but the kind of aggressive development of applications of cutting edge science that corporations have neither the funds nor the inclination to pursue. The benefits are far to speculative and/or outside the corporate or product group mission.
The article gives an indication that there are substantial spinoff technologies that have nothing to do with brain neuroscience. For example, blood cell sized drones needed for sensing the neural activity are theoretically possible and would have tremendous potential for augmenting human immune system with hunter killer drones that targeted pathogens, cancerous cells, tumors, clots and vein plaque.
Such miniaturization would also be a boon for national security intelligence gathering and warfare. A military would simply dust a country with trillions of microscopic drones that would be ingested by enemy nation's population in order to eavesdrop on all combatants and potentially kill them.
What was mentioned was data storage using DNA. This has been done in labs to store images, and Shakespeare's Sonnets but is exceptionally expensive (audio story) (article in Nature) . But there is even a more significant applied science technology that would spin out of this. To get this recording to work within the nanomechanism itself would require synthetic biological mechanisms needed for such artificial DNA factories. If we can synthesize arbitrary DNA strands on the fly, it implies that biological evolution that once required 100s of millions of years could take minutes.
If you have gotten the impression that there are a couple of significant medical, political, military, ethical, and philosophical issues raised by the technological advances a project like this could kickstart, you would be correct.
I neglected to include a link to a Nature article describing current engineering at this scale. This gives some idea of where we are now- which may be surprising to a general public that is so unfortunately disinterested in advanced technology research.
The tax hike imhers complains about was the bringing the payroll tax back to the rate it was two years ago. Imhers should really complain about why half the corporations are using loopholes to pay NO taxes.......and why corporation heads take 100 times more "pay" than they used to....and why corporations pay huge bonuses to their people but cut wages for the middle class.....and why corporations are now sitting on $29 BILLION instead of re-investing it in new businesses which would hire more people! If the rich paid their fair share....there would be plenty of money for everyone to get a good job, work to improve the infrastructure in this country.....and help our veterans!
This article from 2012 is one of the BEST I've ever seen on showing the short and long term effects of NAFTA...and by continuation, of what the Trans Pacific Partnership and now, it would appear, a proposed European trade agreement. The TPP has 600 corporate advisors and there is ZERO transparency (although someone did leak some documents). These agreements literally give corporations the status of nation-states, and can undo DECADES of every form of economic, social and environmental reform we've worked on. The TPP is ALEC AND NAFTA on steroids!! We've GOT to get more investigation out to the public on this. Maybe a good start would be to tie NAFTA back to the current immigration and border issues outlined here to get them demanding answers BEFORE these are finalized. In this case, I'm a conspiracy realist not theorist. Please read!
