He did not even mention WTC 7 in a single sentence in the Entire Piece of Propaganda
Nor does the government get into ANY of the physics and science of the WTC three towers collapsing at free-fall acceleration. 80 ton sections of outer beams being blown sideways from the very beginning of each twin tower starting at the top where there is not enough energy to make them shoot sideways at 50 mph. Its the MATH.
Both those towers were not the worst damaged buildings that day. WTC 3, 4, 5 (22 story hotel) and 6 had fiercely hot fires and the debris of the towers exploding outward above them being demolished in a controlled free-fall blasting building material sideways all the down and much of it fell onto those WTC 4 buildings.
Those WTC Four buildings ... REMAINED STANDING. THEY did NOT collapse.

Dr. David Ray Griffin has no qualms about pushing you down the rabbit hole of the other two "planes" the supposedly hit the Penta'con' and Shanksville. One of the most watched and guarded places, the Penta'con' has over 80+ outside surveillance tapes that SHOULD have caught the "plane" in plain view, IF a plane had been there. The ONLY tape that has been released is less than 7 second clip showing nothing near to being a LARGE airline moving just feet above the ground...a physics driven IMPOSSIBILITY. You used a two images of the Penta'con' that I recall and NEITHER of them had the remains of an airplane smashed on the front of the blackened building. Did it hit a Harry Potter Magic "Portkey" that would whisk it away instantly after touching it? You have to believe that such happened in order to accept the "Official" story. I do not think we still have learned our lesson of DISTRUSTING what governmental officials say and then follow up with Flat Fact checking. Even on the "good guys" from which ever 'side' you're on should be flat fact checked. Even "they" want to impose background checks on every gun owner then we need to do and SEE background documents about WAR and the eroding of our rights.
The Constitution is being ripped to shred in front of our eyes, and we don't even seem to blink ... like we've been a Harry Potter Magic Fantasy Love Potion for our Prattling Prostituted Politicians...several of which you showed who never bothered to read or check what ACTUALLY was in those documents.
In order to believe the "Official" version that Phillip Zelikow single handily wrote, you MUST believe that 80 tons sections from the top of the towers had enough INITIAL energy to travel sideways at 50 mph for distances of several hundred feet from where they were vertically, and all at free-fall acceleration through the path of greatest resistance, like the Apollo 16 experiment where a hammer and a Falcon Feather were dropped on the Moon and BOTH fell at the same rate and his the ground at the same time.
I urge you please to go further...to the basic ROOT of the problem. Only then can we find our way out and gain back our trust in government. It will be messy, but it MUST be done.

Way, way too many bad memories. I empathized with the guy who found himself throwing something at the TV. I remember, all too well, the nightmarish feeling of seeing lie after lie pouring from the administration and (despite the fact that there was evidence *proving* them to be lies, findable by the most cursory search) unchallenged by either Congress or the vast majority of media, and the helpless realization that "they" were deliberately putting us in an unnecessary war, dammit, and there's not a thing I can do about it. These things needed to be said again, Rachel, but I'm afraid you've cost me at least one night's sleep... again.
I agree with the above posters who said that Hubris opens up many old wounds that have not yet been healed. This is for me a way to begin hearing the words that can restore my faith in my American people. Still, the alienation seen between the Bush Administration and even the highest levels of his cabinet--to say nothing of the American People--is as stark as it is appalling.
It’s amazing seeing a Republican congressman express regret at voting for the war. Some of the commentators scratch the surface of the absurdity of going into Iraq.
I needed this documentary, just to hear a little bit of truth. This message has to go out to remind Americans of electing the wrong people to lead our country, and to the media whose responsibility is to keep asking questions.

Thank you for a good documentary, Rachel. However, what is amazing about this story is that those of us who are Internet savvy knew most of this while it was happening. There was very little that is new here. Though some will be shocked by this, I really feel that all the potential was there for people to know, and anyone who claims that there is no way for Americans to know what there government is doing, is not a citizen of the 21st century.
Most Americans are still not even aware that a third building came down at ground zero on 9/11, without being hit by a plane. The Bush administration's report on 9/11 did not even mention this third building's collapse. For such a detailed report, this is a very odd ommission.
Eventually (after years of complaints) the Bush administration did a separate report on the collapse of this third building, WTC 7. Their report speculates that WTC 7 collapsed in a traveling collapse. The collapse started at one end of the building (from tower debris) and traveled to the other end. But video shows clearly the building instead collapsed simultaneously around its entire perimeter. An excellent analysis by professional architects and engineers says this collapse was obviously a controlled demolition, and "the symmetry is the smoking gun".

This is disgusting. I lost many friends that day. I saw the second plane hit the WTC. Blaming this on Bush? Are you people nuts. Rachel you are a joke. This was unwatchable and irresponsible.
This was about the response to 9/11 and the way your friends deaths were used to justify an attack on Iraq and Saddam Hussein. If you wish to be mad at anyone, be mad at a President that lied for his own means. The invasion of Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 and unfortunately it is beyond a joke.

The program was about how we were snookered into the Iraq war by a corrupt administration through lies and bad intelligence, not about 9/11.
What was irresponsible was Bush the Younger drawing this preposterous conclusion that Iraq was somehow linked to 9/11, and using that as a partial justification for war. This program illustrates that point.
Bush the Younger is responsible for over 4,000 American lives lost, and over 30,000 wounded, not too mention the innumerable Iraqi citizens who were victims of the war.
And all those lives would have been saved if Saddam had allowed inspections of his palaces. But no, Saddam's own hubris was the trigger for invasion.
Since when, shooter, does a country have to prove it's innocent. If China would demand inspections into the US weapon's arsenal and your government wouldn't allow it: Would this justify China to launch an attack on US soil?
THe decision to go into Iraq had NOTHING TO DO with supposed weapons of mass destruction.
It had everything to do with Bush the Younger wanting to get Sadamm Hussein and be the "big boy" on the block. Not allowing inspections was just the icing on the cake Georgie boy needed to push it, along with fictional ties to Al-Quaeda.

My big question is, "Now What?" How do we hold these people accountable? How do we keep those who drove us into a war with Iraq from doing it again?
It would be more intelligent to ask why Obama felt the need to escalate the war in Afghanistan given the lessons of Iraq. Either there is something more to the issue that you aren't aware of, or Obama is no better than Bush.
Bush did what he thought was right to protect the country. You may not like what he did or how, but no one thought Bush was intentionally trying to harm America. Calling for treason just demonstrates that you are politicizing the war for personal gratification. Grow up.

Answer: Be informed and ready to speak out when you hear anyone defending the Iraq invasion or proposing a future one. And don't be shy. If more people were contradicting and counteracting their superficial lies, they'd have less chance to push past dissent and start another war to satisfy the appetite of the military industrial complex.
Chris Boese remarked on FB that it should have been a two hour documentary. It seems to me it could be a multi-part mini series- and TRMS could put out different episodes as time allowed. For example one might examine the media attempts to uncover the truth. An entire segment could be devoted to the way the Intelligence Oversight committees failed to do their job and independently review whether the Administration was fairly characterizing the data. They didn't during the Bay of Tonkin, and similarly Bush led the country into war under false pretenses, massaging classified intelligence into a picture that conformed to whatever they wanted the public to believe was true. Independent verification was not possible via the Press, and so the last line of defense was the intelligence committees because only they had the necessary security clearances.
The public is still under the impression that Congress had the same intelligence that the administration was getting. But they weren't. In 2005, FactCheck made the claim that Howard Dean was distorting the truth about the 2002 National Intelligence Estimate. The 2008 Senate intelligence report on the Iraq pre-war intelligence manipulation showed that he wasn't.
No one likes to talk about how they were conned out of their life savings. We were stupid, and we will keep on being stupid until we look at this closely and figure out what we could have done to prevent this from happening.
It seems to me there should be a lot more focus on the failure of the Intelligence committees to insist on independent study of the intelligence claims being made before the vote on authorization went to the floor. Did they have the tools to hear testimony from those disputing the Cheney-massaged interpretation of the data?
If not, do they have the authority and tools to do this now? If so, why all the problems finding out about details concerning the Drone program.

The Hubris segment finally overturned the counterfeit coin of Bush, Rumsfeld, RIce, et al to exhibit the intentional creation of a war to appease the insatiable desire for dominion over another country, and to flash around the coveted glass marble kid's toy called power gone astray. The creators of that war have to come to terms with themselves, and how unfortunate that society did not assist them with incarceration as their hands drip with the blood from death and serious physical injury to thousands of American military. Interesting history, but nothing new here. All of this information is simply a re-hash of previously well documented facts, and not covered in any depth because of the short length of the program. Overall, very lightweight. Unfortunately, it's what I've come to expect of Maddow.
A much more interesting question to cover would be why PBO refuses to acknowledge any of these crimes, and why no one in the DOJ is interested in prosecuting those responsible. Lying to Congress is against the law. Over four thousand americans lost their lives because we were lied to, and as of yet no one has been held accountable. Too many powerful people were involved in this, but the crime now is that too many powerful people are STILL protecting those responsible. We can't change what happened in 2003. We can change what's happening in 2013. Why doesn't someone cover THAT story?

I have to agree, memosley. Rachel Maddow started off as an original, hard-hitting journalist. But, alas, she has been co-opted by the establishment. The documentary (if one can call it that) a disappointment. The most glaring omission was how the authors of "The New American Century" were predominantly Zionist / Israel-Firsters who used GWB (and his "Saddam wanted to kill my daddy!") for their own nefarious purposes. Also absent was the role of Scooter Libby / Judy Miller / and the complicity of the NYT in disseminating falsehoods and propaganda.
I think TRMS has had its day. Sad, but true.

Three questions:
1.) Why are these guys still running free? Aren't they war criminals by all accounts and must be treated like such?
2.) When will Rachel (or anyone else) show the guts to produce a documentary about the war-mongering mainstream media (incl. MSNBC) during that period? How come all the whole world outside the US KNEW the reasons for war were lies - and only the US media never allowed dissent?
3.) How is it possible to raise the question whether America can be led into such a war again in the future - without even trying to answer the both questions above during the documentation?
Or to sum it up: I would prefer Ms. Maddow not trying to appear naive enough to claim, that without any signs of a trial and/or a critical analysis of the total failure of the MSM a repetition of this crime would not only be possible but highly likely.
There were a few mistakes in the commentary, "Hubris", last night. The Gulf of Tonkin incident actually happened. Congress voted to escalate the The Viet Nam War because of it. Many Congressmen claimed that President Johnson lied about this incident because they wanted to escape the blame for their votes. The problem is that they voted to go to war over such an insignificant incident. Nobody was killed, nobody was wounded and nobody even suffered from a hangnail from this. Congress knew that. If it wasn`t the Gulf of Tonkin incident, it would have been something else that would have put us into that war. In the winter of 1964-1965, the Viet Cong controlled about 85% of the country. The Vietnamese government controlled the cities. Almost everybody in the U.S. government thought the U.S. could turn things around. Of course they were wrong. Of course I was wrong as a 20 year old at the time. This was a tragic lesson that we should have learned from. Next we move to Colin Powells speech in front of the United Nations. He said that there was 150 tons of Sarin gas that was unaccounted for. It didn`t matter. Iraq`s stockpile of Sarin gas had a shelf life of about six months. It was last used 13 years before. To paraphrase one of the weapons inspector's, one could find more deadly chemicals under their kitchen sink. Lastly, we move to the idea of mobile biological weapons labs. This should bring laughter. A lab like that would require stability. Iraq is a third world country. Talk about the absurd. Oh yes, this came from curveball.
Well done given the time limitation. It's important that we not forget what a disastrous failure a democratically elected government and a "free" press can be, as much as some might like to forget. Thank you.
Beautifully done documentary, given the time constraints. What I want to know is why we have to watch John McCain and Lindsey Graham grandstand with their faux outrage day after day when no one (no one!) has been called to justice for the war crimes against humanity resulting from the cherry-picked intel and disinformation used to justify the invasion and occupation of Iraq? There are at least half a dozen people from the Bush/Cheney administration who should be in the dock at The Hague defending their actions today. Where's the outrage? If Obama falsified CIA intel and was responsible for 4,000 American deaths would conservatives blow it off as "old news"?
We owe the world an explanation for the atrocities done in our names.

We knew in our hearts that the George W. Bush and Richard Bruce Cheney's Administration was lying to us to take us into a for profit war and we did the best we could to stop it. The feelings of failure and frustration were only made bearable by pacifists and some in the media, and a few elected officials. Let us continue to stand up for what we know is right; "We will not be moved."
While we're at it, let's not give the free press a pass for their willingness to cheerlead in exchange for a comfy seat on the Abrams tank or the aircraft carrier. Our press owes us an honest accounting for their lack of critical investigation leading up to the Iraq invasion. Had we been given information relevant to the situation we might have been able to slow down the rush to war.
When the neocons start their next concert and the drums of war are being pounded to stir up military action against Iran I hope we are better served by the fourth estate.

How soon we forget just how effective the lies were. I was at a wonderful Kate Clinton showcase (look her up), and she came out against the Iraqi war in her monologue. It was hilarious. In a crowd of about 2,500 lesbian women, I was in a small minority who laughed and cheered. The rest resoundingly booed. After all, It was unpatriotic in those days to satirize Dubya for the warmongering.
"Remember 9/11" was literally the war cry. The drums were at a fever pitch, even in a group of supposedly "enlightened and progressive" lesbians. The power of the media-led government-controlled zeitgeist should never be forgotten, or underestimated again. Remember this when you say no new information was presented last night - it was there all along and actively ignored. Instead, lies became our new normal.

A one hour documentary on this subject was insufficient to highlight the nefarious lies of the Bush Administration in regard to 9/11 and the Iraq war. That said, what was shown again made me so angry that I could hardly watch it. Everybody has the same feelings regarding what should happen to these deceivers? Are we just going to let them get away with it? I voted for Obama twice and support him, but I am bitterly disappointed that nothing has been done to prosecute those that "sold" us a war for profit that was only supposed to last 18 months and lasted nine freaking years. If someone in my family had been sent to that war, I would be pounding the drums for these liars to be held accountable. My stomach is hurting again.
