Ok I am going to do something a bit out of character and post something for the moderators of our little TRMS community and our little tiny corner of the fourth estate.

I'm a Vet who has had first hand first hand personal experience with the VA and I can tell you that it's not actually worse than you think but worse than you could possibly believe humanly possible. I can't thank you guys enough for continuing to cover this and not letting it disappear into the cracks again.

There is a long and inglorious history of this mess. Go back and look at the piece of reporting that NPR did about Ft. Drum a few of years ago...remember the mess at Walter Reed? the hot and cold running rats, the mold that looked like decorative wall murals...Yeah that mess...you would think after all of that and more that something would have been done about this...you would think...hope at least, but still for all of that here we are.

The answer given to the question of why is that there is a "Bottleneck" in the system...ok if that's the case and we know what and where it is then why is it still there after all these years...that is not an acceptable answer and more than that it just doesn't sound right. Stuff doesn't stay this broken for this long unless it's on purpose. Whos purpose that would be or why I don't know and can't even begin to imagine but there must be one even if it is only a lack of ability to make political hay out of this.

So here is my request...favor...plea...whatever you want to call it. You have resources we don't have, you have a platform that has national recognition and whether they admit to it or not those in power pay attention to, which is all the more important because they sure aren't paying any to us. Keep asking questions, keep asking the people who are in charge of this train wreck why and most of all Please, please, please don't stop. For the love of this country and the people who have well and faithfully served it please don't stop.

Please forgive me going on but this isn't something that gets summed up in ten words or less.

The VA has become an humiliating experience for most vets that have no choice but to deal with them. My experience has been no less than downright time consuming and anxiety building which most often culminates in ultimate frustration. The VA seems to find ways to make the most basic and simplest of things complicated and seemingly too difficult to resolve in a timely manner. Something must be done Rachel. A continuous light must be shined upon them illumining the frailties and failures of this important American organization. I hope you become one source of that light on behalf of thousands of veterans like myself who have been cast adrift in the VA's seemingly purposely under achieving system.
