Who didn't see this coming?

What our authorities don't see coming... When micro managing people's lives becomes normal, so does ignoring the laws associated with it. When normal living produces two to three felonies a day, real felonies also tend to be ignored.
Mr Chairman, I have in my pocket (along with my mouse) a report published on the internet that Ted Cruz, is a Canadian plot to infiltrate, usurp and bring down the US government.
Who else, but socialist Canada, Mr Chairman, would conspire with traitorous secessionist movements in Texas to foment revolution? Who would ever suspect such strange bedfellowness? The subtle nefariousness beggars the imagination, sir, and I, for one, demand that Cruz and his shady proteges be forced to answer, in public, to the american people.
Furthermore, Mr Chairman, I say it's time to complete the danged fence. The Canadian border is largely a straight line. What could it cost?
I yield the rest of my time, Mr Chairman, to the hardest working man in government, the congressional shrink.
But rumors are legitimate sources of information....
“The word's out that he [Romney] hasn't paid any taxes for 10 years.”
— Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), on the floor of the U.S. Senate, Aug. 2, 2012
Yes.
Three letters: WMD.
That little rumor resulted in an ocean of blood. Unfortunately, Duhya couldn't hide an entire country, unlike Romney could with his taxes.
Mr. Cruz, why did you knowingly continue to associate with 'known communists and their sympathizers' at Harvard? What would motivate a patriot such as yourself, to not immediately withdraw from Harvard, and why did you not immediately denounce those communists to protect your fellow students and those who unwittingly follow as students, in order to protect their patriotic virtue? Continuing to matriculate there would seem to be a tacit approval of those you now seek to denounce. Either it was a nefarious institution or it was not. Please explain your lack of timely action so we may adequately understand your current position. Was it Harvard or shall we assume that institutes of learning that teach free thinking and other dangerous ideas are to be suspect, as well? We await your leadership on this issue? Snark or is it?
Dr. Robert Oppenheimer was brought down in exactly this way. Why did it take you so long to identify these people? No matter if they were your friends or co-workers.
Given that Russia planted a flag at the bottom of the sea in the Arctic in order to lay claim to the oil once global warming makes drilling easier, will Shell soon become a Russian coporation? Will the U.S.A. go to war to get the oil?
Mother Jones has an interesting story line on this. It has to do with the Pentagon accepting reality and preparing for coming oil shortages.Seems they are not as willing to bet the future on simple denial.
There is an estimated 50 years of reserves in Canada, and word is, now that the election is over, that Obama will allow Keystone to go through. He will say that the change in route made the difference.
Cruz is a Patriot in his own mind...He believes what he spews and that is the danger of this McCarthy-ish insanity...I am beginning to think we need to nuke these places who send people like this to DC...
I'm sure Stalin and Mao thought the same way.
Is it to late to start calling him Sen. Flag?
I only read the weekend edition of the local paper because the week day editions get delivered too late..or perhaps I have to be at work too early!
Any way, today's paper included an article by a person named Ruben Navarrette, "Another Republican gets into hot water with the old boys' club."
In this article, he is espousing the wonderful attributes of his "friend for ten years" Ted Cruz.
Unfortunately for Mr. Navarrette he fell for one segment (among many) in the hearing and decided to write a column about something he did not research--perhaps because he just took his friend (Tom Cruz) at his word.
Published in the Gazette Colorado Springs, Colorado on 02/23/2013:
"Cruz was also questioning the nominee's judgement. When presented--during a 2009 interview on the al-Jazeera network--with the claim that the United States is "the world's bully," Hagel Characterized the observation as "a good one." There is more to the article, and it is worth reading because it shows that he did not review the original story or he is ignoring the obvious and just backing his "friend."
Google this:
Sen. Ted Cruz grills Secretary of Defense nominee Chuck Hagel on 2009 Al-Jazeera interview
by Greta Van Susteren Posted in: Chuck Hagel, Secretary of Defense, Senator Ted Cruz
I did post this response because ...WOW..some of these other postings!
You totally miss the point of the question...and, therefore, the answer as well. Just as Mr. Cruz hoped you would when presented to you in this manner.
there were two questions from MS. Day (Georgia United States).
He answered the first question by stating "yes"--
Can the rest of the world be persuaded to give up their arsenal when the image for the U.S. is that of the world's bully?
The second question " Don't we indeed need to change the perception and the reality before asking folks to lay down their arms (nuclear or otherwise)?
His answer to this is that he agrees with her (Ms. Day's) perception.
PAY ATTENTION TO THE POINT OF THE INTERVIEW...NOT THE SIDESHOW CLIP THAT POPS UP YEARS LATER...
I must say that I am not a registered Democrat--or a registered Republican.
I am registered as Independent--One of those amazing "fence Sitters"!!!
I do like to check and see what both sides are stating as truth (LOL).
Things Cruz
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Cruz
(Senator) Cruz was born and spent the first four years of his life in Calgary before his parents returned to Houston. His father was jailed and tortured by the Fulgencio Batista regime and fought for Fidel Castro in the Cuban Revolution[37] but "didn't know Castro was a Communist" and later became a staunch critic of Castro when "the rebel leader took control and began seizing private property and suppressing dissent."[38]

This line from Wikipedia above is contextual of how we should view Cruz's Family. A redeemed hero a father fighting to end one regime to be betrayed by another to then escape to Canada and then to the US. It is important to note that Castro was known to have Socialist tendency in his rise to power the idea that know one knew till it happened is a very all encompassing narrative. It has been edited heavily by his staff and or pr. So in knowing this his campaign tries to steer son of a communist solider and conspirator to studying in America.

"He said his father began fighting against Batista’s regime when he was 14, in 1953. When the elder Cruz was 17, he was imprisoned and tortured by Batista’s government, his son said. The next year, 1957, Rafael Cruz legally went to Texas on a student visa issued by the Batista regime, Ted Cruz said."

Cruz's Father fought against Batista and then gains a visa & scholarship a year before Castro takes over seems odd.
At face there is desperation in the story similar to a lot of immigration accountings in that it sounds a do what you have to do moment in his family's history. There is merit to the struggles of escaping a dictatorship and people can and should try to fight and or escape per there discretion but to assert a simplified story seems odd.
Good thing Mr. Hagel does not have this questionable nature looming in his past. It would seem low hanging fruit for any Senate confirmation.
