On Monday, Rachel explained that the House Republican governing style of lurching from one self-imposed crisis to the next has become such a pattern that it has become difficult to keep track of the various emergencies, past, present, and future. In the service of such tracking, the show has instituted a naming system for Congressional storms in this Republican-led season, modeled on the Weather Channel's naming of weather storms, which itself is based on the National Weather Service's convention.
Notwithstanding the stopgap measure Steve reported on earlier, this is the season so far, along with projected storms Francis and Gertrude.

I think a color coded Republican domestic terrorist threat might be in order...not that most American listen to a thing the Chicken Little conservatives say any longer. There is a reason why even their base is turning to reality show programing rather than watching the Faux News divas.

Had the senate passed a budget since BO has been in office we wouldn't have Obama's government by "freak out" to paraphrase Peggy Noonan. No Will, the blame for these storms lay at the feet of Reid and Obama who have chosen the strategy of not passing a budget so as to run the federal budget based on the pre-recession real estate bubble Bush 2008 budget through continuing resolutions because they do not want to accept any reduction in spending to match the reduction in revenues.
Thus without a senate budget to reconcile with a house budget, the only lever the house republicans have to curb our deficit spending is through the debt ceiling. No the blame for these storms lies with the occupant in the White House. Nice to see that Obama has realized that his strategy of campaigning against house republicans isn't working and broke bread with the opposition last night.
The federal Debt is being reduced at the fastest rate in history. Unfortunately, it took only eight years for our Republican-Bush-war-folk to dig this deep-deep hole. So just relax. It will take a while to patch up this mess, but soon enough we can afford another GOP white house war-making-free-for-all-spending-spree. But if we starve and neglect our American children and future soldiers today, then tomorrows wars will have to be fought by subcontracting those jobs to Mexico and China. Oh crap. Did I just give you an idea?? ..my bad.

It seems that BO is finally reaching across the aisle to his opposition and showing some leadership by actually speaking with republicans to negotiate a grand bargain. Only by signing a budget which is reconciled by both the house and senate will this administration cease lurching from one government funding crisis to another.
