Today's installment of campaign-related news items that won't necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* In Massachusetts, Rep. Stephen Lynch's (D) Senate campaign is having to try to explain why he was the only New England Democrat to vote with congressional Republicans to kill health care reform. The vote, according to the Boston Globe, still "hovers over" his primary candidacy.
* How mad is the far-right with Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R)? A Tea Party entity called the Patriot Super PAC has made a small ad buy -- in Iowa -- condemning his transportation bill.
* According to the latest data from the Public Policy Institute of California, Republicans in the state are on track to slip to third-party status "before the end of the decade" (thanks to reader R.P. for the tip).
* In Minnesota, former Sen. Norm Coleman (R) has announced he won't challenge Sen. Al Franken (D) next year. Republicans consider Franken vulnerable, but have not yet identified a top-tier challenger (thanks to my colleague Nazanin Rafsanjani for the tip).
* Republicans continue to aggressively target actor Ashley Judd in Kentucky, with today's line of attack questioning her residency status.
* Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan (D) appears likely to run for governor in 2014, which will likely mean running in a primary against incumbent Gov. Pat Quinn (D). By some accounts, Madigan skipped the 2010 Senate race with this gubernatorial contest in mind.
* Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) once again reiterated his interest in seeking national office in 2016. This wasn't the first time he's dropped presidential hints.
* And on a related note, Quinnipiac has already begun conducting 2016 presidential polling, even though it's ridiculously early. As for the results, spoiler alert: Hillary Clinton looks strong.

That's awesome. Say, I think Michele Bachmann's Presidential Campaign staff is looking for work, so maybe someone could make introductions.
B-b-b-b-benghazi!!!
Gosh, I thought they hit bottom with Pailin for V.P.? Rand Paul? Is this the reason Democrats are humming "It's beginning to look like Christmas"?
Sadly, no. They're not there yet. As long as people have the strength to wave a gun around in one hand, and a Bible in the other, then normal society will have to suffer their nonsense.
Some would say ignore people who shoot off their mouth like some kind of serial Poop Shooter. But I say it's our duty to point out Teh Stoopid.
The fact that it's fun, well, that's just a bonus ;-)
Things do not look good for Republicans in the long term. I don't think Hilary Clinton will be able to run for President in 2016 though. By then she'll be 69 years old, the same age that Reagan was when he was elected, and Reagan was the oldest person ever elected to the Presidency. I don't think we'll likely see that again in my lifetime. The job is simply too challenging for someone who will leave office in their late 70's.
So Supreme Court Justices can make constitutional decisions on legislation at ninety but a president needs to be less ancient than Borax man was?
2016 presidential polling offers no real change. No matter what person is in the poll, you can bet they will based largely in political philosophies.
Just once I want to see a person in office that will handle things using logic and not politics. Stop trying to put every issue into the political realm and just do what needs to be done.
Remember...changing people does not mean changing policies.
So Ashley may not be a true Kentuckian? That might over-qualify her but it certainly will get her more votes!
The Republicans show us once again how they have no shame or ethics!
Shipping Bin Laden's son in Law to Gitmo is nonsense, when they got jails and prisons here to put him in with solitary confinements even. Some politicians act like Gitmo is the only place and having this man in one of our prisons is going to be so awful and besides is a waste of money when it comes to putting him on trial because of the extra distance. This is more like what does these politicians got to hide, when they talk such nonsense.
Ashley Judd, 8th generation Kentuckian, certainly is moreso a Kentuckian than caropetbagger-from-Alabama Mitch McConnell.
According to the latest data from the Public Policy Institute of California, Republicans in the state are on track to slip to third-party status "before the end of the decade" (thanks to reader R.P. for the tip).
And thanks to redistricting being taken away from the legislature in California, the California Republicans are already irrelevant, since the Democrats now have 2/3 majorities in both houses of the Legislature and no longer have to put up with the Republican shenanigans.
