The Senate takes procedural votes today on legislation to avert Congressional Storm Francis.
The Supreme Court will early up its audio of oral arguments on same-sex marriage next week.

What would birthers have to say about Sen. Ted Cruz?

Though the Canadian Cruz article was cool, I liked the story below it at huffpost. The story about evangelists taking over our military should scare the hell out of any true American!
Speaking of Huff Post and things that should scare the hell out of Americans, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE RACHEL - COVER THIS STORY:
"Wall Street Deregulation Advances As Top Democrat Warns That Vote Could 'Haunt' Congress"
TAX-PAYERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO ASSUME THESE RISKS - IT'S CRAZY! If Gamblers want to play with derivative trading, let them, but tax-payers should not be on the hook - didn't we learn anything from "TOO BIG TO FAIL"?!?!?!
Thanks!
I'm reading about a UCF student who committed suicide before he was suppose to have killed a lot of students at UCF. UCF would have been another Sandy Hook, and congress still will not do an assault weapons ban. OH WELL!!!
But,but, we needs our guns to protect us from our elected government!
Rachel, I was amazed when you reported the recent BBC report how Nixon went around Johnson's back and scuttled Johnson's end of the Viet Nam War announcement in order to deny Johnson a second term. I agree it was GOP Treason.. and should have been prosecuted as such.
Stay on it Rachel! and add these facts as well, How the GOP went around Carters back and disrupt and delay the Iranian hostage release, in order to deny Carter a second term and get Reagan elected.. with an stinger missile transfer to the Iranians. This was also treason,, trace able to Dick Cheney,
I wish you would focus on the core issue more directly, The GOP is a magnet for sociopaths, these are people who regularly use unconscionable tactics to accomplish unconscionable agenda. Why does the US government allow natural born sociopaths, into elected and appointed office.? The SOBs are also involved in International nuclear politics, and in America's addiction to serial wars...
Most of the time, when I watch Maddow, I can't take my eyes and ears off the television. This was one of those times when I couldn't even move to sit down because I was so captivated by what was being revealed. Was an amazing segment.
An amazing revelation to be sure, but Tricky Dick's message to the S. Vietnamese does negate all the other reasons that the talks may have been called off.
Johnson continued bombing N. Vietnam for 5 months despite ongoing negotiations and called them off on Oct 31st (just in time for the election and his "major breakthrough" announcement).
It took months for each side to recognize and accept all the negotiating partners. It took months for a decision on what shape table to use.
And ultimately the Paris Peace Agreement reached in 73 had virtually no effect on the war 3000 miles away. Both the north and south vietnamese government all but ignored the agreement and the war continued until 75 when Saigon fell.
The complexity of the politics and the conflict are facts which counter the simplistic notion that Johnson lost because Nixon scuttled the peace talks. Especially given that Johnson wasn't running for reelection in 68.
I don't know who is right on this one, but I suspect it isn't as clean as Rachel painted it. What is not vague is that Hubert Humphrey was the Democratic candidate in that election. The election was close, but there is no solid proof the last minute scuttling of the peace talks changed enough votes to change the outcome of the election. That Nixon committed treasonous acts is undeniable. That he benefitted from those acts is not established.
Reagan and Carter, that is a whole different story.
What I was trying to say is there is no proof Johnson's last minute announcement that peace was at hand changed enough votes to change the electioni. It was the kind of stunt a lot of us thought Johnson might pull.
and what about the Iranian hostage thing... and the Carter Reagan election...?
Accusations of "Treason" is too casually thrown about these days. It is a very serious and very specific crime in US law and the constitution.
What do they mean "the term is no concretely defined"? I know I'm not the only person that can read. Just because some imbeciles want to act like it's not clear what constitutes being a natural born US Citizen does not mean that it is not clear. It means they are imbeciles.
this is my first time commenting here(aside from yelling at my TV during your program), I hope you read my message....how can we find out what CONGRESS is being Sequestered? Is their pay being reduced by any measure, do they have 50% staff cuts they have to meet, or a 45% cut in their office budgets. Is the Congressional cafeteria being shutdown due to the Sequester, is the "special-private" Congressional metro suffering from schedule cutbacks? In other words, WE THE PEOPLE are feeling the effects, what about Speaker BONER and the rest of Congress????
If nothing is happening, then how do we cut their pay until the budget is balanced and passed, like we did here in California ??
Thank you for this opportunity to speak out!

If the Senator is eligible, all of birtherism should cease to exist!
From the Dept. of State website (assuming Sen. Cruz's dad was of Cuban citizenship, not just heritage):
Birth Abroad to One Citizen and One Alien Parent in Wedlock
A child born abroad to one U.S. citizen parent and one alien parent acquires U.S. citizenship at birth under Section 301(g) of the INA provided the U.S. citizen parent was physically present in the United States or one of its outlying possessions for the time period required by the law applicable at the time of the child's birth. (For birth on or after November 14, 1986, a period of five years physical presence, two after the age of fourteen, is required. For birth between December 24, 1952 and November 13, 1986, a period of ten years, five after the age of fourteen, is required for physical presence in the United States or one of its outlying possessions to transmit U.S. citizenship to the child.) The U.S. citizen parent must be genetically related to the child to transmit U.S. citizenship.
Accroding to an article in the Huffington Post citing a Pew study MSNBC is almost entirely dominated by opinion. Anybody surprised? Fox has more news. So I'm thinking that they should do something like have people skype talk radio all over again
Did anyone read the blog posts following the assault weapons ban story linked to "The Hill", ? man those people are haters. One guy ranting about jews, the others about gun grabbers, and someone wishes that Diane Feinstein were killed rather than Milk. There are too many angry, scary, people out there with guns! What a crazy world we live in now. Filled with liars, cheaters, and haters. I wish I could afford to buy an island!
I was going to mention that. Astounding the hate, name calling, and lies about Sen. Feinstein. Plus those who deny that the poll results for the AWB are real.
The AWB is dead. The question isn't whether it will die in the Senate or die in the House. The reality is that it won't pass. Reid is looking at the writing on the wall. Democrats in the House can easily vote for an AWB in Democratically-strong districts, but for Senators, you're going to make every gun owner in the state irate and eager to vote in the next election. Reid doesn't want to threaten the Democratic majority in the Senate. So I doubt it'll even come to the floor in the Senate for a vote.
But even if it does come to a vote there, and even by some miracle it isn't filibustered, it's a complete non-starter in the House. You think Boehner will schedule it for a vote? Keep dreaming.
So the AWB is dead. The only thing the Dems can do is work on the state level. Which means that this will give red states all the encourage they need to expand gun rights in response. Any just about any gun bans they pass in the state will crumble after the courts throw it out.
I think a year from now, Democrats are going to think that we should have stuck with the status quo.
Gun advocates and the NRA should just go along with the high capacity ban and scary-looking gun ban.
Both of those are a far cry from what I have proposed...a total elimination of all guns and ammo and a shutdown of gun and ammo manufacturers.
Hey, Wayne...you can do it Diane's way or my way. Which do you want?
Diane's way allows you to keep your little toys and my way will force you to kiss 'em goodbye forever.
Think about it...Wayne!
Observation:
What you've really got in Obama: The exact same Bush-Cheney mideast policy and regime change adenda... just "auto-tuned" by Will.i.am to sucker the public into thinking they would get real change instead of a poser with the same old bag of bull@!$%# they voted to get rid of.
