Responding to Wednesday's final segment about Republicans ignoring the advice of RNC chair Reince Priebus* and taking cheap shots at President Obama for filling out a March Madness bracket, Tamera, below, offered some worthwhile advice:
I complete the women's bracket, maybe the GOP could try some outreach with the "other bracket"#maddow

Now, I don't mind admitting that I didn't know there were women's brackets happening at the same time as men's brackets because I also don't mind admitting I don't pay this slightest bit of attention to any brackets. This year is the first time I've ever printed out a bracket and it's only because I'm trying to give my (athletically enthusiastic) seven-year-old practice looking things up (in this case, game results). So for us it's a research and documentation exercise.
But now we're following two tournaments, and so can you.

*"[O]ur party has divorced itself from the American culture … [We] would make fun of the president for going on ‘The View’ -- and you've heard me say these things -- … you know, talking hoops for half an hour on ESPN. That's where a lot of America is at, and I think we've got to get with it …" —RNC Chairman Reince Priebus

There should be brackets for the most hateful, anti-feminist, anti-47%, anti-immigrant, Neanderthal Republicans. For example, in the first round, Bachmann v Cornyn, etc. My picks for the Final (how I wish they WERE final!) four: Cruz, Steve King, Gohmert, Santorum.
somebody is doing it already but it is brackets for the rudest, most awful pundit. I recall Limbaugh vs Malkin. They even have Joe Scarborough but I can't remember who he is up against.
It is the Daily Kos that has the brackets.
It is hard to convince those who were elected or re-elected as Neanderthals, that they should change what worked so well for them. While Priebus may be on to something, it is lost on the likes of Cruz, Santorum, et al. But it sure is fun to watch.
Yes! Thank you @CarverTamera for this tweet! Maybe if the GOP organized their binders better, they'd find the women's bracket in there somewhere.
I suck at bracketology, and follow my Lady Boilers as far as they go (fingers crossed!). If they get knocked out, I switch to pulling for any team who is up against Duke, UConn, UNC (little more love to them), Notre Dame, Michigan State (unless they are the only Big 10 team in the final four) and Ohio State (leave the The, take the cannoli). And if by chance, Notre Dame and UConn play against each other, I pray to touch down Jesus that both teams make history and lose to each other in the same game.
Boiler Up!
As a UConn alum, CT resident, and proud member of one of the largest, most dedicated and most knowledgeable women's basketball fan bases in the country, please let me add...GO HUSKIES!!!
To the gop plotting and sending troops to war is how their idea of how a president should spend his time.
You forgot milking average Americans to pay for it all their follies.
While I do think it is somewhat of a point that the President never misses filling out his NCAA March Madness bracket yet he has not been so "on task" with his budget, it is petty and in the political arena today, a trivial way to make the point...I do think this is WAY COOOOOLLLLL:
Using a seven year old's interest to teach "research and documentation" let alone math, logic, etc...kudos to Mr. Femia!!!!!
Remember the ad industry's concept of "niche" marketing. Karl Rove and Roger Ailes have made use of that concept for years. Rove knows that voters are motivated by different issues in different markets. With the control that the .1%ers have over the media, Rove has many ways to reach any of his targeted audiences. So John Kasich for civil unions target the clip for a particular market; Kasich against civil unions target it for a different market. That way Rove gets the best of both Kasichs. Rove has mastered the "wedge and win" strategy. You can be assured that gay marriage will be a major issue in some of the targeted markets. If Rove has enough wedges that reach a percentage of the active voters, soon you have a majority. The strategy worked beautifully for Rove in 2012 as the Republicans have control over 25 legislatures and have 30 governors. Don't feel sorry for Rove or the Kochs, because 2012 was good for them.
By the way, feuding within the GOP is a fiction. Part of Rove's strategy to keep active the greatest percentage of his "wedge and win" strategy -- the voters who consider themselves "Republicans." It is sad, but you can't trust those Koch-Rove-Ailes people -- they lie as many ad men are willing to do.
Speaking of advertising, have you noticed how many popular programs are like the old weekly shoppers where they had mostly ads and a little bit of content to get people to read the ads. If I come to MSNBC from another channel, I will see ads at least 80& of the time. Gotta sell those ads so we can see Rachel.
Don't forget the NIT brackets....
No one gives a crap about the women's tourney.
